Located on the eastern side of Lake Como, Varenna is a quaint fishing village that fascinates its visitors with its colourful houses and streets intertwined with alleys and steps.
Here in Varenna, you can relax by strolling at a leisurely pace through its picturesque old town while enjoying an ice-cream or sitting at a bar with friends or your sweetheart while enjoying a delicious Italian aperitivo.
Varenna is also known to be the lovers' village par excellence, thanks to its “lovers” promenade' that runs along the shores of the lake in the town of Varenna and thanks to luxury hotels such as the Hotel Royal Victoria and the Hotel Villa Cipressi that are located here and where love celebrations and weddings are held every season.
In Varenna there is also the Castle of Vezio (in the municipality of Perledo) where, for the more trained, it is possible to walk from Varenna, about 30 minutes uphill. Once in Vezio you will have the opportunity to visit the famous Castle of Vezio, you will be able to admire the village of Varenna from above with a 360° view of Lake Como.
Varenna is also known to be an excellent starting point for trekking excursions, one of the most famous being the Sentiero del Viandante (Wayfarer's Path).
