A weekend to discover the beauties of Lake Como through a beautiful trekking route: the sentiero of the Vie del Viandante! In the company of an expert guide from the Lombardy Alpine Guides College you will have the opportunity to cross beautiful villages such as: Lierna, Varenna, Dervio and Colico and discover, along the way, suggestive landscapes and places that still tell a great story today.

The Sentiero del Viandante is a trek that retraces the ancient communication routes that led from Milan beyond the Alps. It runs parallel to "that branch of Lake Como" through a multitude of fantastic rural and natural environments, making us savor moments of past life and ancient historical and cultural traditions. From Lierna to Colico, several days immersed in the magnificent scenery of Lake Como, enjoying not only the great views, but also the delicacies of the typical local cuisine. A trek that is never too demanding to enjoy from the first to the last step. Traveling through history by reading the human landscape is one of the many levels in which you can travel the sentiero del Viandante, discovering the many events of this part of the lake.
MEETING - 9:30 am at the Lierna railway station
DEPARTURE - 10:00 am
DIFFICULTY - E: Hikers. No technical difficulties, just a good habit is needed a walking several hours on mountain trails.

DAY 1: LIERNA - VARENNA
From Lierna we will immediately go up towards Genico for the start of the most demanding stretch of our trek. From the houses of Genico the path climbs steeply into the woods to a panoramic point beyond which the slope becomes gentler and the itinerary continues reaching Alpe Mezzedo (860 m), near which an ancient ice house is visible. A further uphill stretch and we are at the church of San Pietro, one of the most panoramic places of the entire Sentiero del Viandante and the culminating point of our ascent, where a stop for lunch is a must. 12:30 packed lunch.
From here on, the path that leads to Ortanella (950 m) continues comfortable and almost flat and once past Monte Fopp begins the long descent along the wooded ridge which, first on a driveway and then on a path, leads to the Castle of Vezio. that we will visit admiring truly unique views of Lake Como and then descend towards the lake and then to Varenna.
In the late afternoon, transfer by train from Varenna to Dervio (10 minutes) to reach the bed & breakfast. Check-in upon arrival, free dinner and overnight stay in reserved rooms.
DAY 2: VARENNA - DERVIO
Breakfast and meeting with the guide in the early morning. Transfer by train Dervio - Varenna (10 minutes) to reach and continue the trek on the sentiero del Viandante. We will go up towards Vezio to intercept the path that will lead us north and towards Bellano. Once you get off at Bellano you cannot miss a view of its famous ravine, whose natural gorge was formed 15 million years ago, due to the erosion of the waters of the Pioverna stream which, sculpting the valley floor, dug an ever narrower and deeper groove which from Taceno reaches the Lario. A natural monument to be seen absolutely. 12:30 free lunch in the town of Bellano.
The second part of the excursion resumes with a decisive climb that will take us first to Ombriaco and then to the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime. From this point you go down towards Dervio and the view is very open towards the lake. This is one of the best stretches of the entire Sentiero del Viandante as regards the view towards Lake Como. Once in Dervio it will be possible to enjoy a pleasant walk along the beautiful lakeside of the town.
In the evening free dinner and overnight stay at the bed and breakfast in Dervio.
DAY 3: DERVIO - COLICO
Breakfast and check-out. Meeting with the guide in the early morning.
From Dervio we will cross the village towards the mountain, arriving to take the road that leads to Vestreno with an old stepped mule track that climbs towards the town of Castello. The itinerary continues flat until you reach the hamlet of Corenno Plinio, with its castle and the medieval village that is absolutely worth a visit.
After Corenno, go up the mule track that passes through the hamlets of Torchiedo and Panico and reach Mondonico, upstream from the town of Dorio. The route is now spectacular and the mule track rapidly gains altitude up to the church of San Rocco in an extraordinarily panoramic position. 12:30 packed lunch.
The path now from S. Rocco heads north-east, crossing at high altitude above the lake of Piona, and continues on a dirt road and descends, facing steep hairpin bends, to the locality of Posallo. First on dirt, then on asphalted roads, the itinerary leads to the hamlet of Robustello from where you descend towards the town of Colico, until you reach the railway station for the return by train to Lierna, the starting point of our adventure on the shore east of Lake Como.
