Your experience begins at Hotel San Marco, located in the heart of Piazza della Repubblica, one of the liveliest and most modern areas of the city. From here, you will walk along Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII, an elegant boulevard leading toward the famous Sentierone, the social hub of Lower Bergamo.
Along the way, among historic boutiques and refined cafés, the Teatro Donizetti rises into view, an impressive centerpiece of Bergamo’s cultural life.
10:00 – Funicular ride up to Bergamo Upper Town (tickets included)
A short but evocative funicular journey will take you to the gates of the medieval city. During the ascent, you will enjoy beautiful views over Lower Bergamo and the gentle surrounding hills.
Arrival in the Upper Town – Walk in the medieval heart
Once at the top, you will be welcomed by the magnificent Piazza Vecchia, a true architectural gem considered the symbolic center of historic Bergamo. Overlooking the square are iconic buildings such as the Palazzo della Ragione, the Civic Tower (Campanone), and the scenic Contarini Fountain, together creating a unique harmony of Medieval and Renaissance styles.
