Gera Lario is located at the northern tip of Lake Como, where the Mera River flows into the lake, at the foot of Mount Montemezzo.
The Roman remains discovered in this area testify to the existence of an important ancient trade center that connected Italy with the northern countries.
In the main square of Gera Lario stands the Church of Our Lady of Fatima, built after the plague of the 17th century. Not far away is the Ancient Church of San Vincenzo, almost entirely rebuilt in the 15th century.
As you stroll through the charming streets of this village, it’s not unusual to come across votive shrines adorned with religious frescoes, reflecting the town’s deep spirituality and artistic heritage.
The mild yet breezy climate makes this area perfect for lovers of water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. Well-connected cycling paths, linking Gera Lario to the nearby towns, offer the chance to enjoy peaceful bike rides surrounded by nature.
The local cuisine reflects the true flavors of the lake: in the traditional restaurants along the shore, visitors can savor delicious freshwater fish dishes as well as hearty mountain specialties, all prepared with authentic regional ingredients.
